Announcing Melissa Castaneda, Detroit’s FIRST FEMALE EAGLE SCOUT

Melissa Castaneda of Detroit is the first woman to earn her Eagle Scout Rank.

DETROIT – Boy Scout Troop 1315, chartered by the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition, and meeting regularly at the Academy of the Americas School on Konkell Ave. in Southwest Detroit, is proud to announce that one of its Scouts, Melissa Castaneda of Detroit, has become the very FIRST FEMALE to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout from the city of Detroit.

She joined four Male Scouts who likewise achieved the Eagle rank from the troop since its founding approximately 10 years ago.

This prestigious achievement occurred with the support of her family and under the tutelage of Scoutmaster Becky Hitch, and assisted by many Assistant Scoutmasters from the Troop, known affectionally throughout the local community as Tropa Trece Quince.

Everyone is invited to attend a celebration of this outstanding milestone that will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 11:00am-12:30pm at the Dauch Scout Center, 1776 West Warren Ave., Detroit, MI 48208.
