Detroit Tigers host Ohtani and Freeman’s back-to-back champion Dodgers at Comerica Park this weekend

The Detroit Tigers will play one of the most anticipated series of the 2026 season this weekend at Comerica Park, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the reigning back-to-back MLB World Series champions, coming to town.

MLB stars such as Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Tarik Skubal, who was recently traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers, will arrive in the Motor City for a three-game series against the Michigan team.

The first game between Detroit and Los Angeles will take place this Friday, August 28, at 6:40 p.m., followed by fireworks after the game, as is customary every Friday. Tarik Skubal will be the Dodgers’ starting pitcher for the game, marking his return to Comerica Park after being traded to Los Angeles.

The series will continue on Saturday, August 29, with the game scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

The series between the Michigan and California teams will conclude on Sunday, August 30, with the final game scheduled for 1:40 p.m. In addition, children 14 and under will be able to enjoy face painting and free rides on the Ferris wheel.

The series between Detroit and Los Angeles at Comerica Park comes after the Tigers hosted another division leader, the Tampa Bay Rays, from Monday, August 24, through Wednesday, August 26.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are seeking a third consecutive MLB championship under manager Dave Roberts, are coming off a road series against the Atlanta Braves.

With one month remaining in the regular season, the Detroit Tigers, managed by A.J. Hinch, sit in second-to-last place in the American League Central, as their chances of making the playoffs continue to diminish.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, meanwhile, lead the National League West and are on track to secure a spot in the 2026 MLB postseason, with the goal of winning their third consecutive World Series.
