Miss México de Detroit 2026 Crowned: Andrea Cuevas García Takes Home the Title at a Celebration of Culture, Leadership, and Community Strength

Andrea Cuevas Garcías was crowned as Miss México de Detroit 2026, representing Arandas, Jalisco.

Detroit, MI — The Miss México de Detroit Pageant & Scholarship Gala, a long-standing Mexican Patriotic Committee mentorship and leadership initiative, returned this weekend with a powerful celebration of Mexican culture, youth leadership, and community pride.

Organized and executed entirely by an all-volunteer committee led by MPC President Alma Cruz, the event highlighted not only tradition and scholarship, but also the resilience of Detroit’s Mexican families during a time of heightened immigration enforcement.

At the heart of this initiative is Miss México Pageant & Scholarship Program Director Lisa Gonzalez, who works closely with contestants for at least six months leading up to the event. Through mentorship, cultural education, public speaking support, and leadership development, Gonzalez—together with about a dozen dedicated committee members and community volunteers—creates a transformative experience that strengthens identity and cultural pride.

The Mexican Patriotic Committee is always welcoming new members who wish to support this meaningful work.

A standout moment of the evening was the Traditional Gown Presentation, featuring breathtaking regional dresses on loan from the CasaArt Foundation, courtesy of founder Luly Del Real. These hand-crafted gowns, rich in history and artistry, brought the beauty of Mexican culture to life on stage. Outgoing Miss México de Detroit 2025, Perla García, also captivated guests in her iconic Monarch Butterfly gown, honoring her family’s Michoacán roots.

Investing in Young Mexican Leadership

While the evening offered glamour and celebration, its deeper mission remained evident: to uplift young Mexican women through scholarship, mentorship, and leadership development—especially meaningful as many families navigate fear and uncertainty under ongoing immigration enforcement pressures.
