DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers have had tough seasons in the MLB last years, but the team of Michigan will have 8 players in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, to be played in March.

Last Thursday on a special broadcast of MLB Network, the final rosters for the 20 countries were revealed, featuring eight Detroit Tigers players, not only from MLB, but also from Minor Leagues.

No Detroit Tigers player will represent the United States in the tournament, but they will play for other countries, such as Venezuela (2), Puerto Rico, Netherlands, Australia, Cuba, Italy and Great Britain.

Who are the 8 Detroit Tigers selected to play in the 2023 World Baseball Classic?

  • Miguel Cabrera: Venezuela
  • Eduardo Rodríguez: Venezuela
  • Javy Baez: Puerto Rico
  • Jonathan Schoop: Netherlands
  • Jack O’Loughlin: Australia
  • Andy Ibáñez: Cuba
  • John Valente: Italy
  • Chavez Fernander: Great Britain

Of those selected sportsman, several have already played in the World Baseball Classic: Miguel Cabrera, Javy Baez, Jonathan Schoop and Andy Ibáñez, who will try to win the championship with their nations.
